For both metals, the autocatalytic sector is the biggest demander.
For platinum, the Jewellery market sector especially in China is consuming almost the same amount as autocatalytic sector.
Chemical and Glass industries sector demand is showing a continuous and increasing presence over the last years.

Europe demand is extremely low with Sales in 2008 during the financial crises.
North America has reduced over the years with sales in 2003 and 2009. Corning has concentred their Display glass activities to Asia.
China demand is volatile with solid sales in 2009; several tons of platinum are imported because several glass makers trying to establish production with Chinese technology with limited success.
Japan has continued with production a home and recently reduced their demand, maybe in favourite of other Asian countries.
ROW (Rest of the world) including Korea and Taiwan have had the highest demand / use for PGM materials over the past 14 years.

The demand for Platinumhas increased over the past 40 years from around 80 t/d tonnes/year to 160 t/d out of which 6-8 t/y have been requested by the Glass Industry.
Since the last 10 years the demand is swinging around 250 t/d and higher with requests by the glass industry of 16 t/y in 2011 as peak.
